In July 2003, Waiward Steel Fabricators Ltd. announced the acquisition of M&D Drafting Ltd. in Edmonton. M&D brings to Waiward a solid broad base of experience and leadership in structural steel detailing.

On September 5 2008, M&D Drafting celebrated its 20 year anniversary. They have offices in Edmonton, Alberta and Surrey, British Columbia with approx 55 employees in its Edmonton office and 33 employees in the Surrey office.

Both the Edmonton and Surrey offices utilize Tekla (X-Steel) for all of their detailing. 

M&D Drafting Ltd. have three main divisions, Detailers, Drafting Coordinators and Document Control. These divisions have been carefully structured to allow for maximum efficiency. The Drafting Coordinators assess all information entering the Drafting office and maintain the flow of information throughout the duration of any project. Once all detailing has been completed, all drawings can be monitored from the approval stage to the erection of the structure with the aid of Waiward’s tracking system.

M&D has quite a diverse portfolio with projects in both the Industrial and Commercial sectors. From heavy Industrial work in Northern Alberta to major league baseball stadiums, M&D can handle all projects in a professional and timely manner.
