Edmonton, AB (October 21, 2025) – Waiward Industrial is proud to announce its recognition with two prestigious Canadian Safety Achievement Awards (CS2A), underscoring the company’s unwavering commitment to safety excellence across all operations.

Waiward received the following honours:

  • Tripartite Zero Injury Turnaround Award
Shell Canada Limited, Scotford Refinery – 2024 Fall Turnaround (Q4)
  • General Presidents’ Safety Excellence Award (Q1)

These awards, presented by the Canadian Safety Achievement Awards (CS2A) organized by the General Presidents Maintenance Committee (GPMC) and the National Maintenance Council (NMC) for Canada, celebrate organizations that demonstrate outstanding safety performance, industry collaboration, and workforce engagement in achieving injury-free work.

“Safety is at the core of everything we do,” said Jordy East, VP, Construction & Maintenance. “These recognitions highlight the collective effort of our teams, partners, and clients to ensure every worker returns home safely each day. The Shell Scotford Turnaround is a prime example of how strong tripartite collaboration can drive world-class results.”

The Tripartite Zero Injury Turnaround Award recognizes joint achievements between owners, contractors, and unions in completing a turnaround without a recordable injury—an accomplishment that reflects disciplined planning, active leadership engagement, and shared safety accountability.

The General Presidents’ Safety Excellence Award is awarded to contractors who demonstrate exceptional health and safety performance across all operations, setting the standard for continuous improvement and innovation in workplace safety.

“These awards are a testament to Waiward’s culture of caring and the ongoing commitment towards our Journey to Zero,” said Phil Wolkowycki, Director of HSE. “Our success in safety is built on collaboration—between our employees, supervisors, managers, and clients—and these recognitions reaffirm that safety excellence is achievable when everyone is aligned.”
